Feeling emotional is a normal part of life. When those emotions take over and negatively affect your daily life, relationships, and overall well-being then it’s good to look at why and to do something about it.

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to, that’s why we’re here. There’s no pressure and you can explore at your own pace.

Life can be like a rollercoaster, filled with ups and downs. It's completely normal to experience different emotions as you navigate through the situations you find yourself in. Let's talk about emotional disturbances and how to cope with them.

Emotions are like colourful puzzle pieces that make up the mosaic of our lives. Happiness, sadness, anger, fear – these feelings are a natural part of being human. Sometimes, though, these emotions can become overwhelming, leading to what we call emotional disturbances.

You may find some of the time you are feeling great and feel like everything is going well. Celebrate these times and enjoy the positive moments. Other times you may find yourself feeling down and the challenges of life feel overwhelming. Here are some tips on how to handle the tough days:

  1. Talk It Out Don't bottle up your feelings. Share what you're going through with friends, family, or a trusted adult. Sometimes, a listening ear can make a world of difference. If you’re up for it, you can even try chatting to God about it.

  2. Journaling Writing down your thoughts and feelings in a journal can be a therapeutic way to process what you're going through. It's a private space just for you.

  3. Mindfulness and Relaxation Practice mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing or meditation, to help bring your focus to the present moment. It's a great way to calm your mind during challenging times.

  4. Seek Professional Support If your emotional disturbances persist or become overwhelming, don't hesitate to talk to a counsellor, therapist, or mental health professional. They are trained to provide support and guidance.

Have you ever tried talking to God about how you are feeling?

You can talk to God at any time and anywhere. You can start talking to God like he's there right beside you. Talking out loud can really help*. You can speak this out loud to God now…

“Dear God, I feel sad and overwhelmed. I want my emotions to be stable and to be at peace. Help me to know how to manage my feelings and to get the right help. I can’t do this on my own, I need your help. Can you please show me that you are real and open my heart and my mind so that I can know you, Amen.”

Amen means ‘let it be done’.

* If you can’t talk out loud that’s ok, you can talk to God silently (he can know your thoughts)
